Producer

Premieres June 12, 2025 at the Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline, Mass.

Why Are You You? is a documentary about the Young Religious Unitarian Universalists (YRUU) program that saved and shaped the lives of adolescents who, now as adults, reflect on the movement’s continued impact on their lives and its complicated past. It reveals how teen empowerment is nothing to mess with: When we find a sense of belonging at the most tender time in our lives, we thrive as adults.

Why Are You You? is a collaboration with two dynamite women: Director Lindsay Caddle LaPointe and Executive Producer Dawn MacKechnie. As I find a sense of belonging and purpose in this collaboration, I thrive as a ‘creative’, which goes to show, “You’ve got something here, Lindsay!”

From working the camera and interviewing subjects to helping shape the narrative, I’ve seen this film take on a life of its own. Now it’s ready for the world to see.

My collaboration with Lindsay started in 2014 when we produced–along with other students in my master’s program at Regis College–a video about the Regis Lay Apostolate, a missionary program that sent more than 200 Regis College graduates across the country and abroad to teach and establish schools from 1949 to 1972.

In 2017, our collaboration on Making Mill Town, a documentary short edited and directed by Caddle LaPointe, earned us an award.

I have always been a producer–if you count putting on your own birthday parties, planning and organizing dinner parties and other events among the mix.

Early inklings of being a producer include but are not limited to putting on plays with cousins and at age 10, raising $99 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for a play I wrote and produced.
